:: Provisioning Cisco ATA with Phoneopia.com Service ::

Please note that this page is for customer's who already have given us there mac address, and we have created account for them on our server. If an account has not been created, this will not work.

Also note that you have to have some networking knowledge to be able to follow instructions on this page.

Preparation:
You have to make sure that your ISP has not blocked TFTP Port, You can check this by going to DOS prompt in windows XP or Windows 2000 and type

tftp tftp.superphoneunlimited.com get test

You will get "Transfer successful: 5 bytes in 1 second, 5 bytes/s", any other result indicates blocking of TFTP port.

if the test passes, then you can continue, other wise you have to get your isp to unblock the TFTP Port # 69 first.

Physical Setup:
 

1) Plug your touch-tone telephone into the PHONE 1 port on the back of the ATA-186

2) Connect an Ethernet cable from any free numbered ports on the home router to the 10 Base T port on the ATA-186

3) Connect the power adapter cord and power supply together. Then, connect the cord to the power supply port on the back of the ATA-186, and plug the adapter into a standard wall outlet or power surge protector.

4) Wait approximately a minute.

a) Take the phone off the hook, or turn the phone on

b) The red button on the top of the ATA-186 will illuminate.

c) Make sure to hold the handset close to your ear and be prepared for a voice prompt which will announce the ATA’s IP address. Press the illuminated RED button and dial 80# on your phone.

d) Write down the IP address of the ATA. _____._____._____._____ If you did not get a chance to write down the IP address, press 80# again. If you hear the busy signal, repeat steps 4a through c.

e) Hang up your phone

5) On the PC that is connected to the same router as the ATA 186, open a browser and enter the IP address you retrieved during step 4 in the following form:

http://____.____.____.____/dev

For example: http://192.168.1.2/dev

6.a) If your browser displays "Cisco ATA Configuration", go to step 7.

6.b) If you are installing an ATA that has been previously configured with some other service, you may be asked to enter a password at the "UIPassword" prompt page. Enter password and go to step 7.

6.c) If you do not know the UI password, you will need to reset the ATA by completing the following steps.

    a) Take the phone off the hook.

    b) The red button on the top of the ATA-186 will illuminate.

    c) Press the illuminating red button on the ATA and dial 322873738#.

    d) Voice prompt will ask you to dial * to save changes you have just made.

    e) Press * on your phone’s keypad.

    f) Hang up the phone.

    g) Make sure you close the browser and repeat step 5.

7) At the ATA User Interface (refer to the diagram) set the following fields:

UseTFTP = 0
UID0 = phoneopia ID (eg. 3003215421)
PWD0 = phoneopia password
GkOrProxy = phoneopia.com
UseSIP = 1
SIPreg = 1
OpFlags = 0x00000003

8) Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and press the "Apply" or "Submit" (depending on a firmware version) button to save the changes you have just made (Note: Currently all configuration support new Cisco ATA firmware version 3.x, if you have an older firmware version, please mention in advance).

9) Your browser will display: Cisco ATA 186 Configured Successfully

10) Cisco ATA funtion button (RED Light button on top of Cisco) will flash rapidly twice, first rapid blinking indicates Cisco ATA initialization, second rapid blinking indicates configuration download. Please allow 1-2 mins for this.

11) After 2-3 minutes, pick up the handset and listen for a dial tone.

12) Close the browser window.

Congratulations!
You have successfully configured your Cisco ATA 186 with Phoneopia Service.
